FAQs

What is relationship coaching?

Relationship coaching is a proactive approach to building and maintaining healthy relationships. It focuses on enhancing communication, emotional intimacy, and connection between partners. Unlike therapy, which often addresses deep-seated emotional issues and past traumas, coaching is goal-oriented and solutions-focused, aiming to prevent problems before they escalate and strengthen the relationship. Coaching does not label or diagnose and is not a substitute for therapy or mental healthcare.

How is relationship coaching different from couples therapy?

Coaching and therapy serve different purposes. There is a time and a place for both. Although Lea is a licensed therapist, she chooses to operate only as a coach at this time. Therapists can be coaches, but not all coaches can be therapists:

  • Coaching: Goal-oriented, focuses on the present and future, proactive strategies, and relationship enhancement. Ideal for couples seeking to build a stronger connection and prevent issues. Rather than something "being wrong".

  • Therapy: Addresses deeper emotional and psychological issues, often dealing with past traumas and significant emotional challenges. Therapy is conducted by licensed therapists and may involve long-term treatment and diagnosis.

What is premarital coaching?

Premarital coaching helps couples prepare for marriage by building a strong foundation of emotional intimacy, communication, and connection. It focuses on proactive strategies to address potential challenges before they become issues down the road that may be unforseen, ensuring a resilient and joyful marriage. It is a science influenced alternative for modern couples to (or to augment) traditionally religious premarital counseling. The couples that do this work are healthy and in love.
